Nonie Young – Secretary

My husband Gary, our son Tim and I came to Clearwater 34 years ago from Minnesota, the smartest thing we ever did!!! Our daughter Sarah was out of high school and wanted to stay in Minnesota, it was hard to leave her but we visit as often as we can and vice versa.  My husband was a pilot for Northwest so he saw her quite often, since he commuted to Minneapolis for work and we were able to go fairly often too which was nice.  NEVER in the winter however.

We moved into our home in Countryside 24 years ago. We joined the Homeowners Association shortly afterward.  I became a member of the Welcoming Committee and enjoyed meeting the new neighbors and introducing them to this area.  Quite a few years later the Homeowners Association became pretty much nonexistent which worried me, because I have seen neighborhoods that don’t have them and they don’t look very nice.  I called Judy Blanton, former head of the Welcoming Committee and she knew how to get hold of Mark, the President, and Rob her neighbor.  The four of us got together and started the ball rolling to get it going again.  Thank goodness the deed restrictions were renewed in the early 2000’s, most of the other homeowners associations are not operating anymore.  I am now Secretary of the association and we have some great new officers who are working hard to make it active again.
